I write and edit for online and print publications. When I do web writing and editing, I can also include keywords in the content, format the work in HTML and CSS, and make suggestions for your website.
My rates are usually per project. I estimate how long the work will take and then give you a quote based on that time estimate.
Because editing time depends a lot on the interaction with the client, I prefer to charge per hour for editing. I can provide a rough estimate in advance, and you'll see the time required as we progress through the project. When I quote per project, the total cost may be higher to cover the possible time involved.
In addition to editing, I can include keywords, proofread the work, and format it to make it web-ready.
My rate for writing and editing is (or is based on) $35 per hour, US or Canadian dollars. For a no-obligation quote, contact me with details of what you need done.
Here's how we do it:
Writing is not a hobby for me. If you hire me, you will get:
The going rate at many writers' sites is $50 USD per hour. My rates are considerably lower, but I offer a different range of services. Also, because I usually work alone, my overhead costs are not high.
At some sites and forums where writers post their rates, the rates offered go down to $10 USD per hour or even less. I don't try to compete with rates that low.
Professional skills cost professional-level rates. I have extensive education and experience in writing, editing, web publishing, and marketing. See What you get left of this column.
