Writing and editing rates

For short projects

My base rate is $35 per hour, in American or Canadian dollars, and my quote will be for the project. For example, if I estimate that a project will take two hours, I'll quote you $70. Press releases have a fee of $70.

If you prefer to pay per word (for writing) or per page (for editing), I can give you a per-word or per-page quote once I know how much work is involved. My quote will still be based on about $35 per hour.

For longer projects

My rate goes down for longer projects or ongoing work.

For projects that will take more than a few hours, I prefer a payment agreement per hour, word, or page. You will see the work in progress.

Rates per word, per page, or per hour

Time needed for each writing or editing project depends on several factors:

• The amount of research and fact-checking required
• (For editing) how far from polished the content is
• The amount of discussion time needed during the writing or editing process

The above are considerations for each quote.
